The first artist of the Risorgimento who dared to express art through the appeal of the human body after the dark and forbidding Middle Ages, he became one of the iconic figures of the  Renaissance. Eve as Mata Hari? In case you’re history-challenged, Mata Hari was the best known - and most beautiful - German spy in WWI. Yes, there was a World War I (one) too between 1914-1918, resulting in over 20 million deaths and a totally screwed up Middle East - for which we are still paying for with blood and money.
